Updates for the Week of August 17th

Hello! Looks like we didn't win the Tradevibes contest. :( But we put up a good fight, at least up until the last minute rush. Thanks to everyone who voted!

There have been a few major changes over the past few weeks. The first of which being that everyone now has a "profile" page with a single distributable widget. What does that mean? It means you now have a single piece of code that has connects to a single Anatomy Ads widget. You can distribute that widget anywhere you want, in any way you want. You can even give the code to a friend to post on his or her site! You can tie all of your content together, and create a single "pool" of sponsorship. People who sponsor your profile, will have their impressions distributed across all of the pages where you have the widget displayed.

The next thing we are going to roll out is an incentives system to help jump-start sponsorships. This will ultimately allow anyone who signs up to get started with some basic sponsorships, get those into their widget and start racking up impressions.

Updates for 7/25

So, a few updates for today. But first, a big thanks to everyone who has signed up so far!

The other day we were informed by Mashable's Adam Hirsch that we are one of three new startups who won a month's free advertising. You should see us on their home page shortly. Thanks Mashable!

For those who have signed up, we have approved all pending applications. The last step is to verify ownership if your domain or sub-domain. The verification link will appear in the upper right hand corner of the "sites" section after you login. All you have to do is copy and paste to small meta tag into your site. If you have any problems with this, contact us at feedback@anatomyads.com. Once verified, you can grab your widget code and start getting your audience to sponsor your site. Make sure to update your profile with an image and a short description. We'll be adding all of our initial publishers to the home page shortly.

If you haven't yet signed up, you can do so by visiting this link.

Also, we are currently entered in TradeVides Fever Pitch contest. Check it out, and vote for us so we can have a chance to meet Ron Conway!

First!

Hello. My name is Aaron. I am the “architect” of Anatomy Ads™, and this is the official blog. I’ll update this with news about the project, the platform, and other miscellaneous information and updates.

First, I want to discuss what it is we are all about. Simply put: Anatomy Ads are a new way to monetize social media. That means bloggers, new media, viral media, search - anything that has an interactive human component. Traditional CPM, CPC and fixed-sponsorship models treat all kinds of media and content the same: You set a price, and the traditional advertisers come in and purchase ad space at that price. Anatomy Ads are different. We allow everyone to participate in supporting great publisher content at a price that works for them.

We do this through Anatomy AdWorks™. It’s a user-embedable plugin for publishers that ties itself to the page it resides on, creating an individual ad space for the content on that page.

Simple
Every AdWorks widget is comprised of a four ad matrix. Each individual ad contains a 128x128 image and a 60 character mouseover title. This makes it easy for non-traditional advertisers to use a standard avatar from any number of sites, while allowing traditional advertisers the ability to use IAB standard square buttons. The plugin itself comes in three standard sizes 280x320 (square), 560x180 (horizontal), and 150x600 (vertical). More sizes are on the way.

Different

Every matrix is unique. With a traditional model, readers can refresh a page and see the same ads over and over again. Not with Anatomy Ads. Every time a page is displayed the widget chooses a new set of ads based on a number of factors.

Open
Everyone can participate, and anyone can be a publisher.* There are no set prices. Anyone can sponsor anything, for any price they choose. Publishers maintain the ability to allow or deny any sponsorship.
*Right now publishers must be approved, but it is our goal to allow everyone from the largest networks down to the smallest blogger, or even an individual person with a MySpace or Facebook account, to use Anatomy Ads. If you would like to apply for a publisher account, please contact feedback@anatomyads.com

Transparent
We don't hide anything. Everyone can see what how much ads have been sponsored for, and the total pool of sponsorship for any individual piece of content or site. This allows individuals to make logical decisions as to what pages to sponsor, and allows publishers to know the true value of their content.

Social
In a new era of social media and personal branding everyone has a presence, and everyone wants to increase their exposure and grow their network. With Anatomy Ads, that’s possible. You can target a particular piece of content, and the individual readers for that content. You can see who sponsors your content, and reach out to their users by sponsoring their content.

This is just a quick overview of some of the ways Anatomy Ads is trying to change the way that publishers monetize social media. In the coming days I'll go more in depth with respect to some of the specific problems that Anatomy AdWorks solves for a new generation of creative content professionals.
